Montréal Metro Visitor's Tips

The Metro has 4 lines, the Orange, Green, Blue, and Yellow. The nearest stop to the Queen Elizabeth is Bonaventure on the Orange line. This is also the stop for the Central Train Station (Gare Centrale), above which the Queen Elizabeth was built.

The Place des Arts station on the Green Line is connected to the Queen Elizabeth via the Underground City.

The fare on the Metro is a flat $2.50 CAN. To save money, purchase 6 (in French, six – but pronounced as “cease” in English) tickets and use them on the Metro or bus for multiple trips or share them. The cost is $11.25 CAN which makes each one $1.87.

For unlimited travel on the Metro and buses try the Tourist Card (http://www.stm.info/English/info/a-cartet.htm). It is $8 CAN for one day or $16 for two days.

Before boarding the Metro, check the map for the name of the station at the end of the line in the direction you want to travel. With this, follow the signs to find the platform for the train you want to take.

Note to novice Metro riders: Please don’t block the door. Don’t be rude! Stand back so that others can enter and exit the train.
