Fred Leise
Fred Leise is owner and principal of ContextualAnalysis, LLC, an independent information architecture consulting company that specializes in metadata and taxonomy development for the implementation of content management systems, websites and employee portals.
Fred is recognized as one of the leaders in the taxonomy development field, having co-authored a series of seminal articles with Mike Steckel and Karl Fast on controlled vocabularies and faceted classifications for the online journal BoxesandArrows.com.
Fred also serves as vice president of methodology and product strategy for Intuitect.com, which has created the first integrated application offering a positive user experience for those who design websites and interactive media.
In addition to his consulting work, Fred has written a number of articles on indexing, information architecture and taxonomy development. He regularly presents at conferences and workshops across the United States and in Asia.
His clients have included large government agencies such as the U.S. Social Security Administration, as well as corporate clients such as Dow Corning, Abbott Laboratories, Katzenbach Partners, Hewlett-Packard and Accenture, and educational institutions such as Columbia College Chicago. He most recently completed a navigation taxonomy development project for Oprah.com. Fred is a member of the Information Architecture Institute, Content Management Professionals, the Interaction Design Association, the American Society of Indexers, and the Consortium of Indexing Professionals.
