Making the Case for Social Networks in Organizational Settings

Sunday, 8:30am, Grand Salon B

In this session, I will present various use cases where Social Networks created value within organizational settings. I will discuss the direct relationship between the social network itself and the value-add to the organization. Topics of discussion will include: how social networks can lower organization production costs; leveraging social networks to grow volunteerism and donations; and using social networks to create internal organization harmony.

As social networks become more common, social architecture design skills are becoming a requirement for many, if not most Information Architects. Many times we are asked by our clients or employers questions such as: “What is a social network and why don’t we have one?  Why should we invest in community features?” These are the questions I intend to address as part of my presentation.

Audiences
The best audiences for this presentation include mid-level Information Architects.
